Have you ever used Apple Butter? I have to confess that I never have. I never thought of it. Do you really even know what it is? It's a concentrated form of applesauce made by slowly cooking apples with water or cider to the point that it caramelizes, turning it a deep brown color. There really isn't any butter in it, but it has a thick, soft consistency. You can spread it on breads to eat or you can bake and cook with it like I did.
