Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie

If you haven't noticed, I like Smoothies. From this Tropical Smoothie to this Pina Colada, Smoothies are a great way to get some fruits and veggies into you. Plus it's fun to trick your kids. Be honest. It is. They don't realize they are drinking something that's good for them. All they know is that it tastes amazing! This smoothie doesn't actually have peanut butter cups in it, but it sure tastes good anyway. You can use Greek yogurt like I did or you can use regular yogurt. I love Greek, it has protein.

Ingredients

1 C. 1% chocolate low-fat milk
1/2 C. vanilla low-fat frozen yogurt
2 Tbsp. peanut butter
1 (8 oz.) vanilla yogurt

Directions
  • Place all ingredients in a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Makes 3 cups.
Note: You can add a frozen sliced banana if you want.

Banana Cream Pie Smoothie

I know it may not look like it from the recipes I post, but I really am trying to eat healthier. I absolutely believe in the saying, "All things in moderation". Well, except when it comes to drugs or alcohol (I don't drink) or breaking the law. You know, "It's ok to do some drugs as long as it's in moderation." I mean when it comes to dieting. I will never be one to cut all sugar or carbs or whatever out of my diet. It just won't happen. I love them too much. But I am trying to watch my portion sizes and how many sweets I eat. Maybe just one cookie instead of 3.
This Banana Cream Pie Smoothie tricks your taste buds into thinking they are getting a treat. But really, it's a healthy smoothie. You could make this into a milkshake if you wanted by using vanilla ice cream instead of the yogurt, but I never said that. Nope. I did not.

Ingredients
1 medium banana, sliced
1 C. vanilla yogurt (I love Chobani Greek Yogurt)
1/2 C. milk (cow's, almond, soy etc.)
2 Tbsp. Graham Cracker Crumbs
1 Tbsp. dry milk powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 ice cubes
more graham cracker crumbs for garnish

Directions
  • Place sliced banana onto a small baking sheet or pie tin and freeze for 1 hour.
  • Place the banana slices and the rest of the ingredients except the garnish into a blender.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • Pour into a large glass.
  • Garnish with extra graham cracker crumbs.
  • Serves 1.

Strawberry Lemonade Slush

Summertime means slushes. Like we want them in the winter. Unless you live somewhere warm when it's winter. Strawberry Lemonade is a favorite of mine. Combine into a slush and it's perfection. Add a cute straw and it's even funner.

Ingredients (Lemonade Base)
2 1/2 C. water
1 1/4 C. sugar
1/2 tsp. lemon zest
1 1/4 C. lemon juice

Slush
1/2 C. fresh or frozen unsweetened strawberries
1/3 C. lemonade base
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 C. ice cubes

Directions
  • For the Lemonade Base- In a saucepan, heat and stir water and sugar over medium heat till sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove from heat; cool 20 minutes.
  • Add zest and juice to the mixture.
  • Pour into a jar, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • For the Slush- For each serving, in a blender combine strawberries, lemonade base and sugar.
  • Blend till smooth.
  • Add ice cubes until mixture becomes slushy.
  • Serve immediately.

Pina Colada Green Smoothie

Summer weather is pretty much in full swing around here. Which means it's hot. HOT.
Like high 80's in May.
Not okay. I hate when it's too hot to eat. Weird for me I know, but it happens.
But this smoothie is so good and refreshing that you will want to drink it for every meal. It does not taste like spinach, at all. I have a thing for Pina Colada drinks, non-alcoholic for me. I love the combo of pineapple and coconut so much that when we go to Vegas or Wendover, NV I sit at a machine to play slots just to get a drink from a waitress. Winning money is just a bonus.
But this version is healthy. And your body and taste buds will thank you for it. Make it!

Ingredients
4 C. frozen pineapple (I buy them on sale, cut them up, and freeze)
2 C. fresh spinach
2 C. coconut milk
1 scoop Tropical Monsoon Smoothie (optional but oh sooo good)

Instructions

  • Place all in a blender and blend until smooth.
